About Suspiro Flamenco

Flamenco school in Philadelphia

Suspiro Flamenco

Suspiro Flamenco was founded in Philadelphia in 2013 by Liliana Ruiz, who also serves as the company’s director and featured flamenco dancer. Inspired by her deep love for flamenco, Liliana created Suspiro Flamenco to share the power, tradition, and artistry of this iconic Spanish art form.

Our Mission

Our mission is to bring audiences an authentic experience through traditional flamenco, classical Spanish dance, and live music. Through performance and education, we celebrate the cultural influences that shape flamenco—expressed through rhythm, movement, voice, and a wide variety of instruments.

Our Musicians & Sound

The members of Suspiro Flamenco bring diverse musical backgrounds, including Latin, Cuban, and African percussion, classical music, Spanish culture, flamenco, and folklore. While our influences are wide-ranging, Suspiro Flamenco remains rooted in the traditions of flamenco and honors its origins with respect and integrity. Our musicians and artists are always evolving in this magical artistic journey. Together, we blend sound, rhythm, voice, and movement to tell stories through music and dance—creating a signature style that is uniquely Suspiro Flamenco.
